Hello Kits residents! My name is Bill Everitt and I am a reporter for The Voice newspaper at Langara College. The west-side of Vancouver is my beat for this semester and I am writing a statement which characterizes what the west-side of Vancouver is all about. My deadline is Wednesday at 10 p.m. Look forward to hearing back from someone!

I live at 7th and Stevens. I’m a little late getting on board with the changes to Stephens. I understand it is going to be one way traffic with parking on one side of the street only, to make way for the bike path. As I walked along Stephens (between Cornwall and 7th) today (Sunday) there were only a couple of parking spots available. There were no parking spots on my street, 7th Ave. It is a mystery to me as to where all the cars are going to park when one side of Stephens is no longer available. My suggestion would be to leave access and parking as it is and convert the sidewalk on one side of the street to a bike path. I’m sure walkers can accommodate this. The side walks are already wheelchairs accessible to no real changes would need to be made. This might just save a lot of money as well.

Thanks for your interest in our neighbourhood.
We have a number of questions, including yours, about the details of the final design for Stephens Street as well as the installation of parking on the formerly grassed rights of way in front of waterfront parks, traffic mitigation measures for Second and Third Avenue near MacDonald, the designs for the unification of Tatlow and Volunteer Parks and the traffic barrier median at MacDonald and Point Grey Road.
We have asked for a meeting with City Engineering to follow up. We will let you know as soon as we have answers.

The building where I live is organizing to oppose the scope of a dev’t app for over-height building on NW corner of 5th & Burrard. We don’t really know where to turn for help and advice. Do you have a list of resources that might be helpful, or suggestions about how we can be most effective? Can I contact you by email? Or vice versa?

Hello, We are wondering if you know of anyone in the area who is planning to hold an “All Candidates Meeting” this fall prior to the election?

Is this association still active? If so, can you please contact me?

I am interested to know what you think about the city-wide destination pool being proposed for the Kits Community Centre that will to turn our community centre into a city centre.

Yes we’re still alive. Contact made, info forwarded, and good luck with the Pool issue. Keep us (WKRA) and Upper Kits Residents Association updated. May be a source of support in your future!
